Chief Williams said SHREK currently occupies about 77.55% of the combined communications building and therefore reimburses the city for building upkeep such as roofs and HVAC. "The money that we will receive is gonna go to a second academy this year," the chief said, describing a planned training academy funded from the reimbursement. Williams acknowledged some numbers in the current paperwork were incorrect and said corrected figures would be provided to council staff by the following day.
On CAD contracts, staff said that when fire dispatch moved to SHREK, the city continued paying several ongoing technology contracts because canceling and re-procuring mid-contract would be difficult. The interlocal agreement before the committee would reimburse the city for those contract costs and set a process for SHREK to assume responsibility for contracts going forward.
