The Alexander County Board of Education approved a set of administrative appointments and the remainder of the personnel agenda following a brief closed session to discuss personnel matters.
Superintendent Dr. Griffin recommended hiring Dr. Angie Charles as coordinator at the Student Services Center, effective July 1, and Avery Miller as assistant principal at Alexander Central High School, effective July 1. He also recommended internal administrative transfers: Heather Houston to assistant principal at Alexander Central High School (from West Alexander Middle School) and Ashley Jenkins to assistant principal at West Alexander Middle School (from Bethlehem Hidnight Elementary School). Dr. Griffin said those placements had been discussed with the board in advance.
Vice Chairman Degenhardt moved to approve the listed administrative placements; Anthony McClain seconded the motion. The board voted aye unanimously. The board then approved the remainder of the personnel agenda (described as “usual and customary”) after a second motion by Rob Arguelles and a second by Anthony McClain; that motion also carried unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the board entered closed session to discuss personnel matters; the chair said the board expected to take action on recommendations when it returned. The approved appointments are effective July 1 unless otherwise noted in personnel documents.
