TEDC schedules July 10 open house for First Baptist redevelopment; reports two German manufacturers are interested

TOMBALL, Texas — The Tomball Economic Development Corporation said Monday it will hold a public open house on July 10 to gather community feedback on the proposed redevelopment of the First Baptist Church property and reported early interest from two German manufacturers.
“This is a come-and-go style event,” said Kelly, a TEDC representative, describing the July 10 meeting at the church fellowship hall. “We will have stations set up… site layout, connectivity, parking, mobility, uses and architectural style so people can come and give feedback.”
Kelly said the TEDC is building a project web page for the redevelopment to provide updated materials and meeting notices. The TEDC also reported that a feasibility and pro forma analysis is planned to model potential uses, revenues and operating costs for the site; TEDC board consideration of that contract was slated for early July.
Other items reported at the workshop: TEDC staff said the summer youth employment program has 33 student interns placed with 19 local businesses; the TEDC is preparing its budget and will present a budget briefing to the council on July 28; and staff reported interest from two German manufacturing firms, one of which already toured the community and another scheduled to visit later in the month.
Council members asked about long‑term financial forecasting and whether the redevelopment would be an ongoing revenue-generating project rather than a one-time land sale. Kelly said the feasibility study will include detailed financial modeling, anticipated revenue and operating scenarios and that the TEDC board will review the study scope at a special July meeting.
The TEDC presentation closed with an invitation for council and residents to attend the July 10 open house and watch for the project web page and additional notices from TEDC staff.
