District preview: preliminary 2024–25 STAAR results show mixed gains, areas to target at middle school
Summary
Dr. Kelly O'Sullivan presented preliminary 2024–25 STAAR results showing elementary gains in reading and science, strong eighth-grade math results, declines in some middle-school grades, and a preliminary 75% CCMR rate for class of 2024.
Lake Dallas Independent School District on June 16 took an initial look at preliminary 2024–25 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) results and early college, career and military readiness (CCMR) indicators.
Dr. Kelly O'Sullivan told trustees the presentation reviewed assessment results based on student performance only and does not yet include growth measures. "We're gonna take a first look at... scores," O'Sullivan said, noting the data are preliminary and subject to verification for accountability measures.
Why it matters: Preliminary STAAR results guide instruction, professional development and targeted interventions for the coming school year.
