Tomball — The Tomball City Council approved Ordinance No. 2025-08 on second reading on June 16, changing speed limits on Main Street (FM 2920).
A staff presenter said the ordinance, developed with the Texas Department of Transportation, sets a constant speed of 35 mph from Chestnut to FM 2978 and establishes a 20 mph school zone from Howard in front of Tomball Star Academy. “This is just the second reading of the ordinance to change the speed limit on Main Street FM 2920,” the presenter told the council.
Councilmember discussion was limited; the council moved and seconded the ordinance on second reading and the motion passed (recorded as approved). The presenter said the changes reflect TxDOT’s recommendations following their presentation to the council.
Ordinances typically require multiple readings; this action recorded the second reading and accompanying vote. The council conducted a roll-call style or hand vote process during the item and the motion passed by the council at the June 16 meeting.
