The Arlington Heights Village Board on June 16 publicly thanked the village’s public‑safety teams and staff for their work during a June 14 protest at North School Park that drew roughly 3,000 people and remained peaceful, officials said.
President Tonaglia read a prepared statement thanking police, fire, public works and village staff for planning and on‑site support. "There were around 3,000 people gathered to exercise their absolute right to assemble and free speech. And thanks to the dedication and professionalism of our teams the event remained peaceful and safe," Tonaglia said.
Trustees echoed appreciation for staff planning, adjusted schedules and on‑site presence. Trustee Lebeds, Trustee Manganaro and others said they attended portions of the event and commended the coordination among departments.
Manager Reklaas and trustees said the event required advance planning and that staff remain prepared for potential scenarios at public events. No enforcement actions or incidents requiring emergency medical response were reported to the board at the June 16 meeting.
The remarks were delivered during recognitions and communications and were not the subject of a formal board action.
