Board amends agenda, postpones IGBLA policy vote to special meeting

At the start of the meeting the Groveport-Madison Local Board of Education amended its agenda to designate IGBLA (parental involvement) as a second reading and JFCK (student electronic communication) as a first reading. Members discussed which policy attachments should remain in the BoardDocs packet and asked staff to remove items not required by the July 1 deadline.
During agenda adoption members raised operational and accessibility concerns, including that live-captioning on the district livestream had appeared unavailable and that BoardDocs was posting unapproved draft notes shortly after meetings. Board member Latoya Dattleberger asked that attachments be corrected and that items be clearly marked as "first read" or "second read" in the packet so the public would not confuse draft language with adopted minutes.
Later in the meeting the board voted to postpone the adoption of board policy IGBLA. Kathy Walsh moved to postpone and Seth Bower seconded the motion: "move to postpone c 2, the adoption of board policy IGBLA until 06/23/2025 at 7PM, a special meeting with the changes that were read from OSBA's June, policy policy review email that was also forwarded to all board members." The motion passed on roll call with all members voting aye.
Board members said the postponement would allow time to reconcile differences between the current packet copy and an OSBA-issued revision and to consult legal counsel if necessary. Members confirmed they would reconvene on the evening of June 23 to review the OSBA-recommended updates and to vote then.
Separately, several members raised privacy and technology concerns: one board member said they had been unable to use the district board email with confidence because of unclear records/IT access rules, and another flagged a long-standing request for an assistive listening loop system for a member with a hearing disability. The board asked administration to clarify BoardDocs access, captioning status on the livestream, and records/IT policies for members.
