Johnson County commissioners continue public hearing on Spring Hill wastewater buy-in to June 26

The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on June 12 to continue a public hearing on a proposed agreement to transfer a portion of the county wastewater system to the city of Spring Hill.
Commissioner Brewer moved to continue the public hearing to the board’s June 26, 2025, meeting at 9:30 a.m. to allow additional study and further discussions with affected jurisdictions; Commissioner Allenbrand seconded the motion.
County legal staff clarified the procedural term would be a continuance to a date certain rather than a tabling. The clerk then called the roll; Commissioners Fast, Myers, Brewer, Hanslick, Ashcraft, Allenbrand and Chairman Mike Kelly each voted yes, producing a 7–0 vote to continue the hearing.
The board opened the public hearing for resolution WD25-019 earlier in the meeting; no members of the public registered to speak on the Spring Hill system buy-in during the hearing on June 12. The board’s stated reason for continuing the hearing was to allow further study of the agreement’s impacts and to consult with other affected jurisdictions before acting.
The continuance schedules the hearing—and any subsequent board action—on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of County Commissioners hearing room.
