County expands 2026 budget outreach: five open houses and new web budget guide with tax calculator

Johnson County staff on June 5 announced an expanded set of public budget open houses for the proposed 2026 budget and unveiled a new online budget guide that includes a property tax calculator for residents.
Deputy County Manager Julie Karens said the county increased open houses from two to five and listed locations and dates, with events planned from 4 to 6:30 p.m. beginning June 9. Alex Corrado from the management and budget department demonstrated a new web page and a property tax calculator that lets users enter an address and see how mill‑levy changes would affect taxes collected for that property and others.
Corrado credited AIMs and web services staff for building the tool; staff said the site was live and ready for testing ahead of the open houses. The county encouraged feedback from residents and community groups to refine the tool and announced the schedule of public hearings and comment opportunities.
