"I think we need to be consistent. We should have all IT policy‑related policies in the 6000 series if their majority of the IT policies are," said Miss Dixit, a governance committee member who advocated for reorganizing policy numbering. Other members cautioned that student lists intersect with instructional and special services responsibilities and recommended keeping the policy in Special Services to avoid implying sole IT ownership.
The committee agreed to revert the policy's reference office to Special Services and retain the existing policy number. A motion to send Policy 2720 forward to the full board passed unanimously; members asked staff to reflect the departmental language change in the packet. No changes to operational practice or budget items were discussed at the meeting.
Committee members also discussed clarifying the policy title to reference both student records and information technology where appropriate, but chose to keep the policy number and reference office as Special Services for now.
