Neosho County Conservation District asks for $35,000 to secure $70,000 in state matching aid; seeks to continue NRCS technician contract

The district contracted the technician on an hourly basis to preserve project continuity and is asking for county support to continue that contract if NRCS cannot rehire the position.
Kramer summarized recent and planned educational outreach (school programs and an "earth balloon" exhibit, a stream trailer used for youth education) and said the district has over $1.88 million in allocated conservation dollars for Neosho County for 2025. She asked commissioners to consider the expanded match to keep the district competitive and to help retain technical capacity locally.
Commissioners did not vote at the work session but indicated they would consider the district's request during budget deliberations.
