Later in the meeting the board moved to go into executive session to discuss negotiation strategy. Board member Dan moved to enter executive session and identified the members and negotiators to be present; the board cited legal authority under section 44-04-19.1 of the North Dakota Century Code for the closed session. The motion passed unanimously. The board stated the executive session would be recorded and that the topic would be limited to negotiation strategy; attendees named for the executive session included Jamie Baer, Melissa Gleason, Heidi Larson, Owen McKenna, Jason Rohrer, Dan Tweeden, Steve Velcamp, Superintendent Robert Lehi, Adam Gaylor and business manager Chris Christie Grounds.
No details of negotiation strategy were discussed in open session. After the motion to enter executive session passed, the public portion of the meeting concluded and the board moved into the closed session as recorded.
