At the June 9 Bismarck Public School Board meeting, district staff updated members on construction and fundraising for the CT Center, the district's single major capital project.
Mr. Sherry, who presented the update, said "sheetrock is happening and concrete is being finalized," and that exterior wall panels on the north shelled portion are in place. He told the board the project still has a funding gap covering structural steel mezzanines that would complete part of phase 1.
Mr. Sherry said the BPS Foundation has a promising lead with a potential major sponsor and that the district plans to launch a fundraising campaign this summer, followed by outreach to community partners. Superintendent Dr. Fosnott added that bringing donors into the finished structure helps prospective supporters "see the space" and understand why they are supporting students.
No formal board action was taken on the project update during the meeting; staff included financial information in their materials and said they would return to the board for consideration if additional funding or contract decisions became necessary.
