Bismarck — The Bismarck Public Schools Foundation presented scholarship awards to graduating seniors during the May 29 board meeting and recognized donors who fund the awards.
Rick Jeloff, president of the BPS Foundation, and Talia Nygaard, foundation director, thanked donors and recognized a newly established memorial scholarship. “These scholarships are made possible by our generous donors who have given in honor or memory of loved ones or simply to give back to the schools,” Jeloff said.
The foundation announced the Miss B Memorial Scholarship (created by the Meyer family) to honor a Century High School senior and provide a $1,000 award to a CHS senior who “embodies perseverance, inclusion, and kindness,” as described by the presenters. The board and foundation representatives then recognized more than two dozen named recipients and their intended colleges and majors, including Maisie Addison (Rose Stoller Scholarship), Braylon Axe (Jade Tosseth and David Blackstead scholarships), Liliana Bird (multiple scholarships), Ziva Burkhardsmeier (Bismarck High School scholarship), and others listed at the meeting.
Vice President Josh Hager and other board members thanked the foundation and donors and invited awardees and supporters to a reception hosted by Starion Financial after the meeting. Dr. Fosnott and board members also praised the foundation’s role in supplementing student support and recognition.
No formal board action was required; the event was a recognition and presentation of awards administered by the BPS Foundation.
