Administration reports delays migrating policies into BoardDocs; staff to finish formatting this summer

District staff reported on May 19 that converting the district’s policies into BoardDocs has required more manual work than anticipated and that the administration expects to finish the migration over the summer.
Technical issues included conversion of long PDF bundles where policy lettering and dates did not carry over, requiring staff to break documents into individual policies and reformat date fields. Administration said interns and staff will continue the work and that once the migration is complete it will be easier to search, update and maintain policies in the future.
Board members questioned the value proposition and whether an upgraded version of the platform would have simplified the initial upload; administration said the upgrade would be considerably more expensive and that the district is also preparing a new website and will explore content-management options with the web vendor.
The superintendent said staff plan to review every policy as it is migrated to assess whether updates are needed, and the administration expects to bring red-lined recommendations in the fall.
