Commissioners appoint inaugural board for Atascosa County EMS ESD 2

The court appointed five inaugural members to the new Atascosa County Emergency Medical Services Emergency Service District 2 board, to serve until Jan. 1 when staggered terms will be established.
On May 27 the Atascosa County Commissioners Court appointed five inaugural board members to the newly formed Atascosa County Emergency Medical Services Emergency Service District 2 (ESD 2).
Auditor Tracy Barrera presented the slate selected by volunteer fire department chiefs. The individuals appointed unanimously were: Matt Adamitz; Natalie Sherra; Richard Cruz Jr.; David Zulke; and Laura Martinez. Barrera said the appointments will serve "till January 1" and that the board, together with fire chiefs, will manage future nominations and staggering of terms in December.
Commissioner Gillespie moved to appoint all five members at once; Commissioner Riley seconded and the motion carried.
Why it matters: The ESD board will govern Emergency Medical Services operations for the district; establishing an inaugural board is a necessary organizational step.
