For the Tank Farm van for the airport, the low bidder was reported as Conant Auto Park (bid range $66,850–$70,499). The committee approved the award to the low bidder and confirmed budgeted funds were available.
The Cross Insurance Center retaining wall work drew eight bids from $57,005.40 to $106,058; the low bid from Hughes Brothers of Hamden at approximately $57,540 was recommended by engineering and approved by the committee.
Staff also presented a three-year contract for asphalt and cold patch materials. Two bids were received for the materials contract, with the low bid from Sargent Corporation (amount quoted up to $450,500) recommended for award; the contract allows Public Works, Water Quality and the Airport to use the materials and pay as needed.
For rock salt, New England Salt Company, the low bidder in a 2024 cooperative procurement, offered to hold its price for one more year at $66.45 per ton; staff requested a waiver of the bidding process to extend that one-year price hold, citing the recent state bid results that showed higher low bids. The committee approved waiving the bid process and accepting the one-year extension.
Finally, BNB Paving — the incumbent from the 2024 award — offered to hold pricing for paving work for one additional year beyond the existing arrangement; staff recommended a one-year continuation rather than rebidding, and the committee accepted staff’s recommendation.
