Commissioners said they want to make some of the settlement dollars available in the 2026 budget so JRAC can program the funds if it develops viable proposals.
The board agreed to include $300,000 in the proposed budget for opioid settlement initiatives with the understanding that specific projects would still need committee recommendations and further approvals. Commissioners emphasized they were not committing all funds and said any award would still require ordinary budgetary and procurement approvals.
County staff said the 2026 budget entry would make funds available for JRAC proposals and allow the county to act quickly if committee recommendations are ready during the budget cycle.
