Commission asks elected officials for county vehicle-use policies after public complaints

"We just want to put a reminder out to the elected officials to monitor this," Winters said, adding that the motion was not intended to create new rules but to gather information.
Commissioners clarified the motion requests information only; it does not change who controls or manages vehicles. During discussion, Commissioner Thompson asked whether county vehicles are identified; others said county license plates are issued but not all cars carry visible decals. The motion carried by roll call with 11 in favor, 2 opposed and 1 absent.
The commission asked that the policies be returned to the legislative body for review; no deadline beyond "by the end of the year" was amended in the motion and final reporting requirements were not further specified at the meeting.
