South Lyon — Captain Sydney Conrad was introduced to the council and welcomed as South Lyon’s new fire chief during the May 27 meeting.
Chief Sydney Conrad said the department had responded to an estimated 549 incidents to date in the reporting period; since the last printed manager’s report the department recorded 24 calls, including 13 emergency medical services calls, public-service responses and a small number of false alarms and hazardous-condition calls. The fire and police open house drew a large turnout despite poor weather; the chief estimated roughly 350 attendees.
Councilmembers congratulated Chief Conrad on her promotion. The chief and police reported ongoing community engagements including the farmers market and the car-show kickoff.
