South Lyon council adopts 2025–26 budget and millage rate

The South Lyon City Council adopted the city’s 2025–26 millage rate and approved the annual budget after a public hearing with no public comments on May 27, 2025.

Councilmembers discussed the budget following the public hearing and then voted on two separate resolutions: the millage rate resolution and the annual budget resolution. Councilmember Mosher moved to approve the millage rate resolution, seconded by Councilmember Bogart; the motion passed on a roll-call vote. Later, Councilmember Hanssen moved to approve the annual budget resolution, seconded by another councilmember; the motion also passed on a roll-call vote. City Clerk Lisa Deaton conducted both roll-call votes and announced the motions carried.

The council held a public hearing on the 2025–26 budget earlier in the meeting; no members of the public addressed the council during that hearing. City staff told the council members they had received the budget documents in advance and had included the millage and budget resolutions in the meeting packet for separate action.

Because the council approved both the millage rate and the budget resolution during the meeting, the city proceeded with its fiscal plan for the 2025–26 fiscal year as presented in the packet. The packet and the adopted resolutions are part of the public record; the council did not propose amendments at the meeting.

The city clerk will enter the vote and the adopted resolutions in the official minutes and follow the standard posting procedures for adopted budgets and millage resolutions.
