South Lyon names Sydney Conrad new fire chief; chief reports department activity

Mayor Stephen B. Kennedy introduced Sydney Conrad as South Lyon's new fire chief during the May 27 meeting. Chief Conrad told the council she is "honored" to serve and delivered the fire department activity report.
Conrad said, since the last report, the department has responded to what she described in the packet as "549 incidents to date" and provided a breakout of recent calls: 24 calls for service during the most recent reporting period, including 13 emergency medical service calls, five public-service calls, two good-intent calls, two false alarms and two hazardous-condition responses. Conrad said the department's recent fire and police open house drew an estimated 350 to 400 attendees despite rainy weather.
Councilmembers congratulated Chief Conrad on her promotion. Council and staff emphasized upcoming community events including the car-show kickoff and the farmer's market where department personnel plan to make appearances.
