The ordinance before committee would authorize the director of public service or his designee to advertise, bid and execute contracts for the modernization and declares an emergency. Committee discussion emphasized that the station is overdue for renovation and that firefighters were present to answer questions; no formal contract award occurred in committee.
Next steps are council consideration of the ordinance, the emergency declaration and the formal contract award by the appropriate city purchasing authority.
