The Village of Machesney Park Public Improvements and Safety Committee approved Resolution 42 R25 to award the 2025 demolition program contract to Amtrak Group.
Staff reported that over the last six months the village acquired multiple properties through village funds and the OSLAD grant program and has pursued demolition of distressed structures under the abandoned-property program. Staff said structures on seven properties need demolition; two general contractors submitted proposals and staff found Amtrak Group to be the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. CIP funds will pay for the work.
Staff said demolition is expected to start in mid‑July and wrap up in mid‑ to late‑September, but that schedule could change depending on when court orders are issued. Trustee Bailey moved to award the contract; the committee approved the resolution by voice vote.
