The Village of Machesney Park Public Improvements and Safety Committee voted in June 2025 to award the Stones Landing Improvements construction contract to DPI Construction and to hire McMahon as the construction manager.
Staff said proposals were received from two general contractors and recommended awarding the work to DPI Construction as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. The project will create a separate vehicle-parking lot apart from boat parking and loading, add an accessible path between parking areas, and include a fishing pier and river overlook. Funding is from the village’s capital improvement funds and staff said budgeted funds are adequate.
The committee also approved a professional services agreement (Resolution 43 R25) to have McMahon provide construction engineering/management during the build phase; Fairgram completed design and permitting but did not include construction services. Construction is expected to begin in July with substantial completion by October; punch-list work and vegetation establishment are expected into 2026, with seed/plantings requiring a few years to fully establish.
Trustee Bailey made the motion to award construction; Trustee Bogie seconded. The committee voted in favor; the motion carried.
Staff noted the agenda supplement includes a native seed mix for the planting areas and a project schedule that anticipates vegetation establishment by June 1, 2026.
