Young said the county solicited proposals for about 30 days, received three applications and interviewed two firms. "After that interview, it was unanimous among the group, the team that DeSims, newborn and DeSims, clearly stood out, and it is my recommendation along with the team, to have the approval for them to handle our foreclosures," she said. She said the team recommended a three‑year engagement to allow time to evaluate performance.
The board approved the recommendation by voice vote; the transcript records a motion, a second and the ayes carrying the item.
Young also reported collection statistics: as of that morning she said the county's collection rate was 99.14%, with total collections of approximately $59,900,000 and delinquent taxes totaling $515,005.49. She said she would present the settlement on July 21.
The tax‑foreclosure legal services agreement will be for an initial multi‑year term as recommended by county staff; the board did not record additional conditions in the meeting minutes.
