Commissioners approve 35 mph speed limit on County Road 375 North

Boone County commissioners on Tuesday approved Ordinance 2025-03, setting the speed limit on County Road 375 North at 35 miles per hour between State Road 39 and Weber Road.

County staff member Nick said residents along 375 North had raised concerns about vehicle speeds and that staff collected data before recommending the 35 mph limit. “The recommended speed is 35 miles an hour based on various criteria that we covered at the last meeting,” Nick said.

The measure was advanced as a second reading. Commissioner motioned to open a public hearing; no members of the public spoke during the hearing. After closing the hearing, a commissioner moved to adopt the ordinance; another commissioner seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. Nick said the county will coordinate sign installation with the city of Lebanon so the posted speed is consistent across the adjoining jurisdiction.

Nick also said the private company Lily has ordered additional radar-feedback signs and will pay for them; staff anticipated delivery in weeks but received the signs in about six days and will install them when weather and staffing permit. The commissioners’ vote makes the posted limit enforceable once signs are installed and the ordinance becomes official following the two‑week adoption process for a second reading.

The approval covers the portion of 375 North from State Road 39 to Weber Road; county staff identified the city-maintained sections that Lebanon will sign and the county sections it will sign to ensure a uniform 35 mph limit across the corridor.

Implementation steps include coordinated placement of signs with Lebanon and installing radar-feedback signs already purchased by Lily, county staff said. No appeals or legal authorities were cited during the discussion.
