Boone County approves annual Prairie Creek stream gauge agreement with USGS

Carol, a Surveyor's Office staff member, told the board the USGS charge for the Prairie Creek gauge increased by $300 from last year and that “the cost of that stream gauge to maintain that for the year at USGS is 14,000.” She said, “The county's portion this year would be 10,100. US would be, covering that 3,900.”
The nut graf: county staff said the gauge provides flow and peak information the county uses for upcoming studies and hydrologic monitoring, and recommended renewing the annual agreement.
During discussion a board member moved to grant Carol signature authority to execute the agreement; another seconded the motion and the board approved the renewal by voice vote.
The action covers the county's financial participation only; no additional budget details or multi-year commitments were presented at the meeting.
Board members did not raise objections during the motion and the chair declared the motion passed.
