Board Agrees to Place Fleet‑Software MOU, Federal Title Grants and a Donation Request on Consent Agenda
Summary
The board agreed to place on the consent agenda an MOU to share Faster fleet-management hosting with Roanoke County, federal Title grants for 2025–26 (Title I/II/III/IV) and a $160 donation to the McKinney‑Vento program, plus a request to surplus and sell pre‑2020 William Byrd boys' soccer uniforms and keep proceeds on campus.
Several routine administrative and grant items were discussed briefly and the board agreed to place them on the consent agenda for the June regular meeting.
Todd Cagle described an MOU with Roanoke County to move the district’s fleet-management software (Faster) from an unsupported local instance to the county-hosted online instance; the county would host the shared instance and Roanoke County Public Schools would share hosting costs. Cagle said partnering with the county reduces the district’s upgrade and hosting costs compared with buying a separate hosted contract.
Kim Bradshaw and Mike Riley summarized federal grant allocations for the 2025–26 school year: Title I funding was projected at roughly $1.7 million (about $236,000 more than the current year) with Northside Middle being added to the Title I allocation; Title III for English learners was about $60,856.63; Title II and Title IV would cover teacher PD, technology and well‑rounded‑student activities. Staff asked that these grants be placed on the consent agenda for formal acceptance and chair signature at the next regular meeting.
Susan Peterson presented a request to surplus pre‑2020 William Byrd boys’ soccer uniforms and handle the sale proceeds at the school level for the team program as an exception to the normal disposal rule (which would otherwise flow proceeds to the minor-capital fund). She asked that the board place that request on consent as an exception to policy 4.16; board members agreed.
All items were approved for placement on the consent agenda; board members asked no substantive follow-up at the work session.
