The City of Orange council on May 27 approved a $5,000 preliminary engineering agreement with Union Pacific Railroad to inspect the Green Avenue (US 90) railroad crossing, DOT 762398X, as a first step for installing a wayside horn system.
Miss Floyd said the agreement will allow Union Pacific to inspect the crossing; if UP accepts proposed work, RIO Tech can be authorized to begin installation of a wayside horn system. "This is an agreement between Orange and, United Pacific Railroad to allow UP to inspect the Green Avenue Railroad Crossing," she said.
Council voted to approve the agreement. Staff said the next step is to secure UP's inspection and acceptance before proceeding with installation planning and procurement.
The proposal was presented as preliminary engineering and inspection only; further approvals, coordination with UP and installation agreements will be required before equipment is placed at the crossing.
