City Manager Joshua Pritchard announced that Shannon Breaux, who had been serving as interim director, is the city of La Marque’s new permanent public works director.
Pritchard told the council that Breaux has worked for the city for about seven years and served as interim public works director for roughly seven months. “Problems that we have known in public works have been addressed as early as seven months ago,” Pritchard said. He pointed to operational improvements including a reduction in measured water loss: “rather than 60% over, we’re sitting at 22% water loss for the city of La Marque as it currently stands.”
Breaux, standing after the announcement, thanked staff and his family. “I know a lot of times public works is seen as public enemy number one,” he said. “There has been some empty promises. This is not a nothing against council right now at all… The solutions will not happen overnight, but we will continue to push. We will continue to grow.”
