City announces Lincoln Park grand reopening, Juneteenth parade and community events June 21

City staff invited the public to Juneteenth events on June 21 that will include a parade starting at the old Alberta school location and a grand reopening and ribbon cutting for Lincoln Park.
City Manager James said the program at Lincoln Park will begin after the parade and featured the park's splash pad (already open), new playground equipment, adult fitness equipment and a looped concrete walking trail completed as part of phase one. "In the last 24 months, we've completed over 400,000 of improvements, probably closer to 500 if we start adding up all the little ticket items, into that park," City Manager James said.
The city said the grand‑opening portion of the day will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Republic (a vendor/partner) providing food and additional family activities including snow cones. City staff also reminded residents of two events the prior weekend: the 41st annual Tomato Fest and a Flag Day celebration at Hazel Tilton Park.
The council encouraged residents to attend and noted the reopening and associated amenities are part of recent capital reinvestment in the park.
