City Manager James explained the vacancy arose after a midyear appointment last year and that the Lake Advisory Board comprises seven resident/property‑owner members and two staff ex officio voting members for a total of nine seats. "These are three‑year terms," City Manager James said, "there are seven members who should be lake residents and lake lot lessees or property owners in the city. And then there are two staff members... for a total of nine."
Councilwoman Letitia Horace nominated Dr. Kenya Adam; Councilwoman Mindy Gallant seconded the motion. The council approved the appointment by voice vote with no announced opposition.
Council members praised Dr. Adam's involvement in community projects, including work on renovations at Lincoln Park. The appointee will serve the remainder of the term through January 2028 and will join the board's ongoing work advising the city on lake and park issues.
