The Pompton Lakes Borough Council on May 14 approved a short, carryover shared‑services agreement with Bloomingdale for mechanical services through June while the borough finalizes a new vendor for its Department of Public Works (DPW) fleet.
Borough Administrator Michael Corelli told the council the Bloomingdale vendor has provided services for several years and the current resolution carries the borough through June. Corelli said the DPW superintendent and he have negotiated a separate vendor expected to be presented at a future workshop; that vendor would centralize parts purchasing and be able to service snow plows and other equipment the current arrangement does not cover.
Council members asked about the monthly cost in the current agreement — roughly $9,166.66 per month as presented — and which departments are covered. Corelli said the carryover is intended only through June while the new contract is finalized, and that Bloomingdale has provided a separate reduced‑rate proposal for fire and first‑aid equipment if the borough removes DPW from the contract.
The council voted to approve the short extension. Corelli said the administration will present the new DPW vendor proposal and a revised contract for other municipal vehicles at a future meeting.
