Alyssa (staff) told trustees that only the chassis portion was currently priced and that the village’s CHIPS balance stood at about $700,000. "So I'm not sure if you're gonna know what the total impact is," Alyssa said, asking for time to get full figures for the body and outfitting of the truck.
Trustees voiced concerns about committing CHIPS grant monies before knowing the total outlay. One trustee recommended postponing the purchase request until staff could confirm whether tariffs or overseas parts might increase the final price. "Pricing does not include any future applicable tariffs," a staff memo noted, prompting trustees to seek clarity on whether delay would increase costs.
The board voted to table the purchase resolution and asked staff to return with a complete invoice showing chassis, body, outfitting, and any tariff exposure. Trustees said they are not willing to draw down CHIPS funds without a definitive total cost and that they would prefer to confirm grant‑eligible uses before approving expenditures that might reduce funds available for surfaced projects.
No formal purchase was authorized at the meeting; staff will report back with full vendor quotes and a recommended funding plan.
