Committee member Gary Jones nominated David Harris for chair; Harris accepted the nomination, saying, "I accept the nomination for chair." The committee then conducted a roll-call vote and the motion carried.
The committee next elected Luis Alejandro Montero Adams to serve as vice chair. Members nominated Montero Adams in his absence after a member said they had confirmed his consent; the committee carried the motion by roll call. Committee member Pike was nominated and elected secretary; Pike accepted the nomination.
All three officer elections followed the committee's stated process: nominations (including self-nominations), a required second for each nomination, and a vote by simple majority. The committee recorded the votes by roll call during the meeting.
No formal policy changes or program directives were adopted as a result of the elections. Committee members and staff said the newly elected officers will begin serving for the coming fiscal year, with terms of one year or until successors are elected, consistent with the committee's rules.
