Committee alerted to FSSA matching challenge grant; June 30 deadline could prompt special meeting

Decatur County opioid response committee staff notified members about a challenge grant opportunity from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) that would match opioid response grants dollar‑for‑dollar up to $150,000, and said the deadline to apply is June 30.

Amy Hicks, identified in the meeting as a representative of 1 Voice, told the committee that FSSA’s matching opportunity would apply to organizations receiving recovery‑works funding and could provide up to $150,000 in matched funds. Hicks said the match categories include program expansion, transportation services, and capital dispensing. Committee staff said they discovered the opportunity shortly before the meeting and recommended confirming applicant eligibility and, if needed, calling a special meeting so organizations would not lose out on potential matched funds.

Committee members asked staff to check whether recent grant recipients (for example, Esperanza and Foundation for Recovery) could be eligible for the FSSA match and whether funds already awarded could qualify. A staff member said they would follow up with organizations and report back; the committee did not vote on spending or matching obligations at the meeting.

The committee recorded the June 30 deadline and directed staff to identify whether existing or proposed grant applications would qualify for matching and whether a special meeting would be necessary to approve county funding or reallocation to secure the match. No commitments were made on county matching funds during the session.
