Commissioners approve lease for Greater Crime Stoppers at Oak Hill Renaissance building

At their June 12 meeting, the Mahoning County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing a two-year lease with Greater Crime Stoppers Inc. for space at the Oak Hill Renaissance building.

John, identified in the meeting as Crime Stoppers’ president, thanked the commissioners and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department for support securing the fixed location. He said the organization will use the site to host public seminars and administrative activities as Crime Stoppers expands service coverage to Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

County staff described the resolution as a standard facilities lease. Commissioners praised the revival and growth of Crime Stoppers, noting the organization had been dormant for a period and its reestablishment was a positive development for community safety programs.

The resolution was presented during the packet of resolutions and passed on the board’s unanimous roll call. The lease is intended to give the organization a local, stable office for outreach and administration; meeting presenters did not provide the lease’s financial terms during the public presentation and they were not discussed on the record at the meeting.
