Local probation officer asks Sullivan County commissioners for District 6 constable nomination

“I respectfully ask for your nomination and vote at the next commission meeting to be council for District 6,” Whitaker said, adding he is prepared to serve with “honor and effectiveness.” Whitaker told commissioners he has a law-enforcement background dating back to age 14 in the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program and has served as a deputy sheriff, a police sergeant and a probation officer. He said he currently owns a private probation office in Glenville where he continues to work in the community.
