Commissioner concerns
A commissioner told the board that work to bury lines on Broadway had left parts of Singer Island without internet and television service for much of the day and that multiple power surges attributed to recent electrical work had damaged mechanical equipment in several buildings. The commissioner urged the CRA and the contractors to coordinate with Florida Power & Light, Comcast and AT&T to reduce service interruptions and asked staff to track potential claims for damaged equipment. Mercius acknowledged the complaints and said staff would coordinate with the utility companies and the contractor.
Board action
The board voted to approve the contract; the roll call showed the motion passed unanimously. Jenkins confirmed to the board that the $600,000‑plus contract for the current work is included within the larger $3 million estimate previously reported for burying utilities on Broadway.

Staff said they will work with utilities and the contractor to minimize customer impacts and will monitor reported equipment damage. The CRA did not separately allocate additional emergency funds at the meeting; any future claims or contingency requests will return to the board for consideration.
