Board approves student trips, delays textbook adoption; bell-to-bell phone policy discussion paused

Committee members also described ongoing discussions about textbook selections, particularly English texts. The board moved and approved a motion to postpone the discussion and action on textbooks to the July 9 meeting to allow more time for review. Chair members cited district policy 25‑10, which provides a 28‑day review window, and administrators said they will make sample instructor copies available for board review. One co-chair noted that some instructors have only single-copy samples available and that additional copies had been ordered for board members.
A vendor presentation on a “bell-to-bell” (cell-phone-free) policy, presented by a Yondr representative, was discussed in the committee and placed on hold; the policy committee decided not to advance a formal proposal unless further concerns emerge.
Board members discussed logistical questions, including whether textbooks could be circulated and how to schedule follow-up meetings; the board set the July 9 meeting as the target date for final textbook action and the committee planned a July work session to finalize any outstanding materials.
