City of Whitefish staff conducted an audio and video check before a meeting, testing microphones, speakers and the live stream and saying the city is moving to a new sound and video system.
Staff member 2, a city staff member, said during the test, "City of Whitefish is going to new sound new video." Staff member 1, a city staff member, later announced, "And the live stream is up." Both staff members worked through echo and volume issues and tested podium and handheld microphones.
The tests included troubleshooting for echo and headphone volume and swapping microphones. Staff member 1 described adjustments on the audio board, saying, "That's the volume going to the room, which is being the level's being run by the computer, and my headphones is some other volume control." Staff checked a podium mic, then switched to another mic described in the file as "Andy's mic," and confirmed better sound with that microphone.
During the exchange, staff referenced new wall-mounted televisions and said the projector will no longer be required. "We no longer need to use that projector. Right? It's all gonna be on the screens," Staff member 2 said, adding that the switch to TVs aligned with the intent communicated by Dana. A staff member asked about additional monitors; when asked, Staff member 1 said, "I didn't ask," indicating the installation timing for those monitors was not specified.
The troubleshooting dialogue included equipment and software names mentioned by staff while testing, including Realtek audio, Behringer, Asus and Zoom. Staff also noted they would adjust settings and, if necessary, make the recording private: "I'll just make it offline. I'll make it private," Staff member 1 said while preparing the live stream and screens.
No formal council action or policy decision was taken during the technical checks; the exchange was preparatory and focused on meeting technology and livestreaming capability.
