The Keystone Central School Board voted to approve the professional contract for district solicitor David Lindsay, using the same hourly rates as the previous year, but several members said they could not support approving a contract that had not been provided for review.
Board members discussed the item as D2; the motion passed on roll-call, with objections during discussion from members who said the contract language was not included in the packet. “I can't vote for something that we don't even see the contract and what's in it to do it,” a board member said. Several others echoed that they had requested the document be added to BoardDocs but did not see it.
The contract terms discussed in the motion were described in the meeting as the same as last year: a $20.25 hourly rate and a standard work amount of 175 hours for non-litigation services, with the same prices for litigation and non-litigation work as the prior year. Board members who wanted to review the contract said they preferred the document be present before voting; other members said the terms matched prior-year arrangements and supported approval.
The motion passed by roll call; some members asked that the written contract be provided to the board for future reference.
