The Quabbin Regional School District School Committee on Jan. 12 ratified tentative collective bargaining agreements with custodial/maintenance staff and with office managers, approving multi‑year cost‑of‑living adjustments and targeted stipends.
The agreements cover July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. The custodial/maintenance contract includes a 5% COLA in fiscal 2026 and 3% COLAs in fiscal 2027 and 2028, increases to shift differentials in later years, and stipends of $2,000 per year for employees holding hoisting/hydraulic licenses and for licensed pesticide applicators. The office managers’ agreement provides 3% COLAs in each of fiscal years 2026–28 and sets education compensation at $700 for an associate’s degree and $1,200 for a bachelor’s degree.
The committee heard a summary of negotiating objectives: to maintain competitive pay for recruitment and retention while staying within district fiscal constraints. Following a roll call vote, the committee approved both agreements unanimously.
The contracts will take effect at the start of the district’s 2025–26 fiscal year. There was no discussion in open session about additional financial offsets or changes to insurance or benefits as part of these ratifications.
