Scott County Fiscal Court approved on June 13 the hiring of three EMS personnel: one full-time paramedic (Alexis Peyton) and two part-time EMTs (Chloe Burt and Gavin Betsworth). The appointments were presented by county staff and approved by voice vote.
County officials also described readiness activities for a new EMS station. Staff said Medicare requires updated vehicle identification and station addresses on file before Medicare-billable calls can be run from a new station; county staff said those filings are scheduled and the county expects to begin running calls from the new station beginning Monday, June 16, once the Medicare compliance is in place.
Administrators said the station interior is being outfitted and that training and administrative functions have already started there, with a small number of remaining items such as four bunks pending; the county noted temporary bunks were provided by Kentucky Correctional Industries in the interim. Staff asked magistrates to tour the facility; they said final exterior punch-list items remain for the bays and parking area.
The court also approved related technology and community-paramedic software purchases previously discussed; staff said the software supports hospital-style charting, family notifications, mass messaging to partner organizations and improved case tracking for community paramedic work.
