The Scott County Fiscal Court on June 13 approved Resolution 25-08 to serve as grantee for a Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) award for the Lanes Run Business Park Phase 3 project and committed $100,000 in local matching funds.
The resolution, read at the meeting, said Scott County United Inc. sought KPDI funding of $991,920 for land grading and site development of about 88.5 acres at Lanes Run Business Park. The county and the City of Georgetown each authorized $100,000 in matching funds and Scott County United agreed to $47,980, for a total local match of $247,980. The KPDI funds supplement a prior KPDI award for the project.
Separately, by Resolution 25-09 the court approved withdrawing $72,436.43 from the Lanes Run Business Park Expansion Fund to pay Scott County's 50% share of a sewer privilege fee totaling $144,872.86 assessed by Georgetown Municipal Water and Sewer Service under a privilege-fee agreement. The action is conditioned on Georgetown City Council's approval of its matching funds and designation of the City as beneficiary for grant administration.
County leaders described the KPDI funding and the local match as necessary to make lots shovel-ready for marketing and job attraction. Officials said Phase 3 expands the grading work and increases the volume of earth-moving capacity compared with an earlier phase to provide more market-ready product.
Both resolutions passed on voice votes. County staff will provide executed copies to the City of Georgetown for its consideration and will proceed with any necessary Economic Development Fund or Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approvals as required.
