Sam Ford of Innovation Engine described BG 2050 as a 15‑month volunteer‑driven planning process convened to prepare for projected growth in Bowling Green and Warren County. He said the initiative organizes work across eight "pillar" areas with more than 100 volunteers and that a separate Google pilot, run at no cost to the county, collected thousands of community ideas. "We collected 2,370 ideas that had more than 80% consensus," Ford said; he added the project captured 3,940 unique ideas divided across 70 subtopics and 12 topics.
The fiscal court approved the contract by roll call after a motion by Squire Williams and second by Squire Lawrence; voting records show the motion passed with the magistrates present voting yes. Judge Gorman and other officials said BG 2050 will provide inputs to county decision‑making and that some ideas from the public process have already inspired immediate actions by local organizations. The court’s approval was recorded as a professional services contract for $5,000 per month for 12 months to manage completion of the BG 2050 project.
