Lancaster County board approves new member; reviews tower charges and small finance items

Lancaster County board members voted by voice to add John Deloshe to the board to fill a vacancy and approved the prior meeting’s minutes, the board reported.

A board member introduced John Deloshe and asked for a motion to add him to the board. A fellow member moved the appointment and the board approved the motion by voice vote: "All in favor, say aye," the chair said; multiple members responded "Aye." The meeting record shows no roll‑call tally; the appointment was approved by voice vote.

Board members also reviewed a brief finance update. A board member reported the private account balance at about $66,656.01 and said the account had been reduced by monthly banking fees of $10. The board discussed a recent $3,765 charge described as payment for tower space and noted recurring service expenses tied to an antenna the county has not yet replaced.

On the tower, board members said the antenna remains in place while the county plans to redeploy new antennas for the sheriff’s department and emergency communications. One board member explained that removing an antenna requires a crane and crew and that the board has continued paying tower rent rather than incur hefty removal costs: "bringing in a crane alone is Right. $12. So, you know, us to incur $12 plus a crew, another $4,500, it didn't make sense to do anything under keep other than keep paying the rent on the tower until the county comes along and replaces the antenna," the board member said. The board reported a monthly antenna/tower charge but did not record a formal motion to change payments; county staff or the county budget are expected to assume responsibility when the county installs replacement antennas.

The board approved the minutes by voice vote earlier in the meeting and adjourned on a motion later in the session.
