Board extends strategic plan one year to allow incoming superintendent time to assess

The Webster Groves School Board approved a one-year extension of its strategic plan, moving the plan’s target from summer 2026 to summer 2027 to allow new superintendent transition and additional work on literacy, cooperative learning and discipline practices.
Dr. Adams reported on progress toward the district’s strategic-plan strategies and recommended extending the plan one year so work still in progress could be completed with the incoming superintendent.
Adams told the board the district had completed several strategies, including implementing a curriculum-development process, administrator training on individualized feedback, and some safety-and-security measures, and said several additional strategies were on track to be completed by next summer. He identified other strategies—evidence‑based literacy work, cooperative learning teams, social‑emotional and health resources and districtwide improvements to discipline practice—that require more time and recommended extending the strategic plan’s end date to summer 2027.
A board member said the extension would allow incoming Superintendent Parker to listen and learn and help guide the continuation of the plan. A motion to approve a one‑year extension carried by voice vote; the board approved the extension without recorded objections.
