Murray board appoints Tyler Horn as Longview Elementary principal

The Murray School District Board of Education voted June 12 to support the appointment of Tyler Horn as principal of Longview Elementary School, effective July 1.
Superintendent Covington introduced Tyler Horn and said Horn would succeed Dr. Gillette. Covington noted Horn ‘‘brings over a decade of experience in education’’ and that Horn attended Murray schools as a student. Covington asked the board for a motion of support.
The board moved and approved the appointment. After the vote, Horn addressed the board: "I really appreciate this opportunity, and I'm super excited to be back in the district," he said, adding his goal "to establish with the community the fact that they know that I'm gonna want what's best for them." Horn spoke of focusing on school culture, instructional structures and collaboration with staff and families.
Vice President Waite and other board members offered congratulations and said they looked forward to supporting Horn in his new role.
